CANARY CREEPER 2006
The video deals with the Scandinavian colonization of the Canary Islands, where the Norwegian settlement values vertues as comfort, climate, consumation and easyness. More than 6000 Norwegians are living and alot more owns holiday-homes in Gran Canaria, where the video is shot.
Since 2006 the Canary Islands are concidered the backdoor into Europe, and at the time of production it had a huge amount of refugees coming in badly built boats from west- and north-Africa . The number of vessels exploded, and every week boats was pulled into shore, often after several months drifting at sea.
“Canary Creeper” is a quiet video-piece which reflects on the paradox of the meeting between two totally different but yet alike dreams and travel to a better life and to the paradise-island.
